The berinai (henna application) ceremony is held prior to the wedding. The groom's and bride's palms and feet are 'decorated' with the dye from the henna leaves.Before the henne application , the groom and bride separetly reside on the “pelamin� (sitting on state) to receive blessings from several chosen people, symbolized by their sprinkling rose-water, rice coloured with tumeric and bunga rampai on the new weds. The job of the "pengapit" (bridegroom's) is to wash off debris and to cool the groom or bride with small fan. This custom is called “merenjis�. After “merenjis� momento was given.
