PERNIKAHAN - THE PART OF COMPULSORY IN WEDDING CEREMONY
The nikah is the actual marriage ceremony. The nikah is a ceremony between the bride's father or guardian, or his representative and the groom, observed by 2 witnesses. A certain amount of money, the mas kahwin, the amount of which varies according to the state the wedding is held in, must also be given to the bride.
This ceremony is held in the mosque. This enables the groom to say his prayer of gratitude after the vow. Nowadays, the ceremony is held at the bride-to-be's home. It is very important for the bride-to-be to observe the ceremony and listen to the vow and other important Islamic matters such as advice from the man who leads the vow, known as the 'kadi'. It is wise to arrange religious activities after the ceremony rather than entertainment, which is against the Islamic religion.
